How does working with a travel designer differ from booking online?

Booking online gives you access to what's publicly available. Working with me gives you access to my expertise, relationships, and insider knowledge. I know which rooms have the best views, which resorts offer the best value for your specific needs, and which experiences are worth your time. I also handle every detail — so when things change (and they always do), you have someone in your corner. The difference is the difference between booking a trip and designing an experience.

How do you get paid? Do I pay you a fee?

My primary compensation comes through commissions from the travel suppliers I book with — hotels, cruise lines, tour operators — which means in most cases, my planning services come at no additional cost to you. For particularly complex or custom itineraries, I may charge a modest planning fee, which I'll always disclose upfront before any commitment. Either way, you're getting expert design and personalized service that far exceeds what you'd get booking on your own — often at the same or better pricing.

Can you get me a better deal than I can find online?

In many cases, yes — and even when the price is similar, the value is significantly higher. I have access to preferred partner rates, complimentary upgrades, resort credits, and perks that aren't available to the general public. Beyond price, I ensure you're getting the right room category, the best location, and the experiences that match your travel style. The cheapest option isn't always the best value — I make sure every dollar of your budget is spent wisely.

How far in advance should I contact you?

Ideally, 6–12 months for complex international itineraries, peak-season travel, or popular destinations where the best rooms book up fast. For most trips, 3–6 months gives us plenty of time to design something extraordinary. That said, I can often work magic on shorter timelines — reach out and let's see what's possible. I'd rather you contact me 'too early' than too late.

What is the planning process like?

We start with a complimentary consultation where I get to know you, your travel style, and your dreams for the trip. Then I go to work researching and designing a custom itinerary, which I present to you as a proposal with options. You provide feedback, we refine together (up to two rounds of revisions), and once you're thrilled with the plan, I handle every booking. Before you depart, you receive a detailed digital itinerary and all the preparation you need. And I'm available throughout your trip if anything comes up.

Do you only book luxury travel?

I design extraordinary travel experiences — and 'extraordinary' doesn't always mean the most expensive. It means the right fit for you. I work within real budgets and I'm honest about what's achievable at different price points. Whether your budget is $5,000 or $50,000+, I bring the same level of care, creativity, and commitment to every trip I design.

What happens if I need to cancel or change my plans?

Life happens — I get it. When you book through me, I advocate for you with suppliers if changes or cancellations are needed. Every booking has its own terms and conditions (which I'll review with you), and I always recommend travel insurance to protect your investment. I'll walk you through your options and do everything I can to minimize stress and financial impact.

Can you plan travel for large groups or special events?

Absolutely — group travel is one of my specialties. Destination weddings, family reunions, milestone birthdays, corporate retreats — I love the challenge and reward of coordinating travel for groups. I handle room blocks, group rates, coordinated logistics, and individual traveler needs so you can focus on the celebration rather than the coordination.

Do I need travel insurance?

I strongly recommend it. Travel insurance protects your investment against the unexpected — medical emergencies, trip cancellations, lost luggage, weather disruptions. I can recommend trusted providers and help you understand what coverage makes sense for your specific trip. The peace of mind is worth it every time.

What destinations do you specialize in?

I specialize in Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, and the Maldives, with particularly deep expertise in romantic and luxury travel in these regions. That said, my network extends worldwide, and I design custom itineraries for destinations across the globe — from Southeast Asia to Africa to the South Pacific. If I don't have personal experience with a destination, I leverage my professional network to ensure you get expert-level planning regardless.
